This floating wall shelf is constructed from engineered birch plywood with a natural birch veneer on all exposed faces, finished with a clear UV‑cured lacquer. The shelf measures 70 cm in length, 22 cm in depth, and 3.8 cm in apparent thickness, but it is actually a hollow box construction with a solid top and bottom skin over an internal plywood rib structure. This construction method creates a concealed cavity inside the shelf. A removable 2.5 cm wide plastic cover runs along the underside of the shelf near the back edge; removing this cover reveals a channel 2 cm wide and 1.5 cm deep intended for routing low‑voltage cables (such as USB charging cords or speaker wires) from one end to the other. A small 2 cm diameter circular cut‑out is provided at each end of the channel to allow cables to drop down to connected devices. The shelf surface can hold books, a tablet stand, or a small lamp, with a maximum uniform load of 7 kg when the internal weight distribution is even. The wall mounting system consists of a heavy‑duty steel rail that is first fixed to the wall with six expansion bolts (supplied); the shelf then slides over this rail and locks with two set screws accessible from underneath. Once installed, the shelf protrudes 22 cm from the wall and appears as a solid block with no visible brackets. The lacquer finish is resistant to mild solvents and regular dust, but not heat‑resistant; hot mugs placed directly on the surface should be used with a coaster to prevent whitening of the finish. The shelf weighs 2.8 kg unpackaged. The cable channel is intended for low‑voltage, low‑heat cables only; it is not designed for mains power cords or any cable that generates significant heat during operation. The channel cover is made from flexible PVC and can be trimmed with scissors if length adjustment is needed. Installation requires a drill with an 8 mm bit, a level, and a 4 mm hex key (provided). Due to the hollow construction, the shelf should not be drilled into or modified after assembly, as this will compromise the internal structure and load capacity.
