Description
This entryway storage unit combines a flat wall shelf with four cylindrical wooden dowels protruding forward from the lower front edge. The main shelf panel is made from poplar wood with a clear acrylic seal coat, measuring 50 cm in width, 18 cm in depth, and 1.8 cm in thickness. The four dowels are made from the same poplar stock, each 12 cm in length and 2.5 cm in diameter, inserted into pre-drilled holes and fixed with wood glue and friction fit. The dowels are spaced 10 cm apart centre‑to‑centre and are intended for hanging light outerwear such as caps, scarves, lightweight jackets (up to 1 kg per dowel), or small umbrellas with a loop handle. The top surface of the shelf provides a 50 cm by 18 cm flat area suitable for holding a mail tray, a set of keys, or a small notepad. The unit mounts to the wall using two heavy‑duty steel brackets fixed to the underside, each requiring two 8 mm diameter screws into wall studs or masonry. Supplied hardware includes zinc‑plated expansion anchors and coach screws for concrete and brick walls. The clear acrylic seal offers basic resistance against dust and incidental fingerprints but does not provide waterproofing; the wood may absorb oils from repeated handling of the dowels over years, which is considered normal wear. The total empty weight is 1.8 kg. The combined recommended load is 5 kg total, distributed between the top surface and the dowels, with no single dowel exceeding 1.2 kg. Due to the forward projection of the dowels, the unit creates a 12 cm protrusion from the wall; adequate clearance in the entryway must be considered. Installation requires a spirit level, a drill with an 8 mm bit, and a cross‑head screwdriver – none of which are included. The product is not intended for heavy winter coats, wet raincoats, or any item that drips water directly onto the wood.
