Rustic Oak Wall Shelf with Leather Straps

Description

This wall shelf features a single solid oak board with a natural, unfinished surface that has been lightly sanded to remove splinters but retains the raw wood texture. The board is 55 cm long, 18 cm deep, and 2.0 cm thick. It is suspended from two wall‑mounted metal brackets via two genuine cowhide leather straps, each 25 mm wide and 3 mm thick. The straps are looped around the brackets and secured with brass rivets; they are not load‑bearing in tension beyond the static weight of the shelf and its contents. The oak wood has been air‑dried to a moisture content of approximately 10‑12% and may develop minor seasonal cracks or surface checking as it continues to acclimate to indoor humidity – this is normal and does not constitute a defect. The wall brackets are made of wrought iron with a black oxide finish and each is fixed with two expansion bolts (supplied). The shelf hangs approximately 4 cm away from the wall due to the bracket depth, creating a visible gap that allows air circulation behind the board. This product is intended for light display purposes, such as a single trailing plant, a small stack of coasters, or a decorative candle holder. The leather straps are not treated with waterproofing agents; they will absorb moisture and should be kept away from wet areas. The maximum even load is 4 kg across the entire board surface. The leather will stretch slightly over time (up to 2‑3 mm) under constant load, which is normal for this material. Periodic conditioning with leather balm is optional to maintain softness. Installation requires a level, drill, and a 8 mm masonry bit (not included).
